About this Talk

"Write Your Role: Job Crafting for Authors" is a practical, research-based workshop designed to help authors reshape their writing careers using the principles of job crafting and workplace autonomy. Rooted in Dr. Marla J. Albertie’s research and the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, this session empowers writers to take control of their creative process, reduce burnout, and boost long-term engagement. Authors will explore three core types of job crafting—task, cognitive, and relational—and learn how to redesign their writing lives in ways that align with their passions, strengths, and professional goals. Through self-reflection, peer discussion, and strategic planning, participants will walk away with a customized approach to crafting a more fulfilling and autonomous writing practice. Ideal for writers at any stage of their journey, this workshop turns theory into action—equipping participants with tools to “write their roles” in ways that energize, inspire, and sustain them.
